Republican U.S. Senator Grassley, 87, assessments optimistic for coronavirus

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – U.S. Republican Senator Chuck Grassley, chairman of the chamber's finance committee, said Tuesday he had tested positive for the coronavirus.

"While I still feel fine, the test was positive for the coronavirus," Grassley, 87, said in a statement.

Earlier Tuesday, Iowa lawmakers said it was awaiting test results after learning that it was exposed to the virus.

"I appreciate everyone's good wishes and prayers and look forward to resuming my normal schedule if I can," said Grassley.
