Zooms Christmas current: No restrict on name length over the vacations

LONDON (Reuters) – Friends and families kept apart from COVID this Christmas and New Years Eve will not shorten their virtual gatherings via Zoom by the usual 40-minute limit for free subscribers.
Zoom video communication (NASDAQ 🙂 Inc, whose technology has become a feature of household gatherings in the socially distant world of 2020, said the time limit on its free accounts at all meetings worldwide has been lifted for the holiday season.
This includes the Christian celebrations on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, the end of Hannukah for Jews and Kwanzaa, which is marked by African Americans, and New Years Eve and New Year. All fall in late December or early January.
The coronavirus pandemic has hit new highs worldwide during a second wave, forcing many people to stay at home and instead schedule meetings with friends and family over the internet.
"Whether it's coming together on the last day of Hanukkah, celebrating Christmas, ushering in the New Year or celebrating the last days of Kwanzaa, those who bond with friends and family won't be neglected," a Zoom spokesman said.
Alphabet's Google Meet (NASDAQ 🙂 has already announced that free users won't have to limit the conversation to 60 minutes until March.
Microsoft (NASDAQ 🙂 Teams and Cisco (NASDAQ 🙂 Webex, whose usage is increasing during the pandemic, have not yet announced any easing of the length limits.
